COVID-19 Coronovirus information for the church – Sharehouse and Lunch this Sunday

The safety, health, and overall wellness of our congregation is a high priority. We are monitoring information from the Centers for Disease Control, the State Department, and the Colorado Department of Public Health. The situation is evolving; however, from the information that we are privy to at this time, the overall risk for community transmission of COVID-19 in Northern Colorado is low. We will continue to follow the guidance of our local and national health experts as we make decisions for HPH.

With that said, low risk does imply some risk, and we all know the common cold and flu can invade the walls of the church. Because of this, we ask that if you are experiencing respiratory symptoms (coughing, sneezing, shortness of breath) and/or a temperature above 100.4 F to please monitor your symptoms at home and consult your physician if your condition worsens. We ask that you follow this recommended protocol until you are completely symptom-free.  Of you are sick at all, please do not come to church and please notify us that you are ill so we can minister to you fully.

Here is a list of recommendations:

• Stay home when you are sick, except to get medical care.
• Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Clean frequently touched surfaces and objects after each use.
• Many are opting to avoid handshakes and hugs during this time.

Again, this is an evolving situation, and we are trying to be proactive about keeping our community healthy. We will continue to provide regular updates as we have more information to share. Thank you for your cooperation. 

We will continue to worship on Sunday mornings but will cancel the Soup, Salad, and Bread Lunch that was scheduled for this Sunday.  As far as future gatherings, we will have an ongoing evaluation and determine what is best given the information we have. 

As far as the Sharehouse goes, we will continue normal operations with extra warnings and observation about who comes on Thursday afternoon and Saturday morning.  The servants and clients will also be asked to stay home if sick in any way.  If someone comes to the Sharehouse and they are exhibiting symptoms, they will be asked to stay outside and we will prepare a food box for them.

Lastly, we would like to quote one pastor relating to this situation.  He said, “Remember, it is faith and not fear that is the foundation of our lives and decisions as followers of Christ.”  We think this is a good reminder to us.  Let us be wise about not passing germs but let us stand firm in our trust of our sovereign Lord. 

We will continue to care for God’s people and try and reach those that desperately need Jesus as their savior.
